Bookmobile Assistant

  • The Mobile Services Division of the Indian Trails Public Library District is seeking an enthusiastic individual to work part-time on our bookmobile. Our bookmobile has a busy year-round schedule that runs Monday through Saturday. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with the public; especially senior citizens. Russian language skills strongly desired. This position is for 12 hours a week. Applicant must work Wednesdays from 8:30-1:30.Other hours to be scheduled as needed and may require working nights and weekends.

    Website Assistant

    Support the library's goals and objectives by assisting the library's Webmaster with day-to-day operation of the library's Internet, Intranet, and local and remote web accessible resoures including technical support and training. This is a part-time job of 21 hours/week.

     

    Typical duties include:
    1. Work in conjunction with the other departments in the Public Communications Division to provide marketing, information, and resource access through the library website and Intranet sites.
    2. Handle day-to-day updates, maintenance and troubleshooting for all assigned web related operations including the library web site, staff Intranet, and various databases
    3. Help design, implement and deploy new ideas and products
    4. Maintain an awareness of staff hardware and software needs in relation to web-based technologies
    5. Be aware of appropriate, job-related continuing education programs, and with the approval of the immediate supervisor, attend such programs


    Requirements:
    1. LTA, Associates Degree, or job relevant certifications.
    2. Extensive experience using IBM-compatible and/or Apple Macintosh computers with regards to web design, implementation, and deployment.
    3. Working experience with some or all of the following: Dreamweaver CS3, Fireworks, Flash, Acrobat, Photoshop.

    5. Working experience with Microsoft Office and/or OpenOffice.
    4. Willingness to learn other web applications.
    5. Understanding of CSS, Javascript, XML, HTML, SQL.
    6. Ability to hand code HTML required.
    7. Must possess good prioritization, organization, and time management skills.
    8. Experience with web-based video a plus.

    21 hours per week, occasional nights or weekends. Mostly M-F with flexibility in scheduling.

    Part-time Librarian

    Provide reference and information services for patrons, in person and by any communications means; provide reader's advisory services or assist other staff in providing Reader’s Advisory; train patrons in use of databases; assist in displaying and highlighting targeted collections.

    Qualifications:
    Master's Degree in Library Science; verbal and written communication skills; computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite, Internet searching and site evaluation, effective database searching ability; ability to deal with a wide variety of personality types calmly and positively. Knowledge of literature relevant to children and adults. The ability to read write, speak, and comprehend English. Ability to read computer screens, type accurately and quickly, and move about the entire public service area. Fluency in a second language preferred.

    Hours:
    15 hours per week scheduled during nights and weekends

    Hours:

    This is an on-call position with no guarantee of specific working hours or shifts.  Average working hours may vary greatly.
