Indian Trails Video Contest

Calling all high schoolers!

Have you harnessed your inner-Spielberg? Ready to show the world what you can do with a video camera and a few friends? Enter Indian Trails' first video contest. Win big recognition on the Indian Trails website, free movie tickets, and the adoration of millions of fans!*. video contest
All you have to do is create a video that uses the Indian Trails Public Library or the Indian Trails Public Library Bookmobile as a central location, theme or character. All submissions that meet the requirements below will be featured on the contest page. The winning video will also be featured on the homepage, and possibly elsewhere.
All contestants must have access to equipment. The library will not supply contestants with any equipment, talent, or creative input.


Eligibility

  • All participants must be in high school OR between 13 and 18 years of age.
  • At least one member of the participating team must live within the library district OR attend a school within the library district.


Entries must:

  • Be no longer than three minutes.
  • Be appropriate for a general audience
  • Use the library as a central location, theme and/or character
  • Not contain copyrighted content without prior written consent. Use of the Indian Trails name, logo, and “Books are just the beginning” is permissible.

Entries will be judged on creativity, technical achievement, and for inspiring viewers to use the Indian Trails Library.


Winning Entries

There will be two categories your video is eligible for:
Critic's Choice will be decided by our panel of judges.
People's Choice will be decided by visitors to the Indian Trails website.
Winning one of the categories will not disqualify the video from the other category.


Entering The Contest

Entries must be made by email to bgerth@indiantrailslibrary.org. The subject header should be “Indian Trails Video Contest” and include the following:

  • The title of the piece
  • Length of video in min, sec.
  • Credit given for writing, direction, actors, editors and/or other individuals involved in the creation of the piece.
  • A link to the video posted using either the YouTube or Google Video video sharing sites.
  • A statement that the video was created by those involved in the contest.
  • A short statement under 50 words about the video, written by the creators. This may be posted on the website with the video.

All entries must be made by noon on Nov. 1, 2008


Shooting on Library Grounds

72 hour notice must be given to the library to shoot video on library grounds.
The following information must be provided:

  • Starting and finishing time for the shoot
  • Area of library in which shooting will take place
  • Crew size and equipment
  • Name and contact info for Line Producer/ Unit Producer in charge of group

While shooting in the library, The crew must abide by all library policies at all times.


Legal

Any videos entered in the contest remain the property of the creators involved, but by submitting the video into the contest, Indian Trails is given implied consent to share the video on any websites owned by Indian Trails Public Library District, and any future use by Indian Trails Public Library District.
